Embassy of the Republic of Korea in UAE The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the UAE was designed based on the motive of a wedding box. This box, which is traditionally a package full of wedding presents, symbolizes the beginning of a new relationship between the couple’s families. The concept represents the foundation of South Korea’s diplomatic relations with the UAE and the entirety of the Arab nations.

After conducting a program analysis, the buildings for civil application and office work were positioned in a public area, while the private official residence was placed towards the back of the site. This layout optimizes both accessibility and functionality. The architectural elevation is a modern interpretation of the patterns of traditional Korean windows and doors. It displays a simplified aesthetic of the two countries, by blending the familiar Korean image into Islamic culture. A double skin system was used to reduce energy consumption, optimize the form according to lighting analysis, and to minimize the flux of solar radiation.
