Myeongdong Theater Myeongdong Theater is a modern architectural building in Korea. To revive this building as a new cultural interface without damaging the past symbolic meaning, we came up with preservation of the exterior walls, restoration of the interior walls, while covering them with transparent glasses.

There will be a showcase between glasses and the old walls, where the history of the theater such as used items and costumes of actors and actresses, and photos of their performances will be exhibited.
The mass enclosed by the preserved exterior wall was inspired from a figure of a bowl. It projects Myeongdong street as a background of the preserved walls in the daytime, and emits itself, lit up from all the surface in the nighttime once show is on. As a figure made of clay is reborn as a beautiful ceramic in the flames of kiln, this mass expresses the energy of art as light.
Finally Myeongdong Theater is positioned as a bright land-mark in the center of Myeongdong.
