SAMSUNG Life Insurances Office, Sunhwa The Sunhwa-dong Office of Samsung Life Insurance project is part of a downtown redevelopment project. In order to maximize the space for lease while achieving management efficiency and economy of structure and utility systems, the building takes the simplest form of a box. This can easily result in architectural monotony and lack of individuality. It was a challenging project to create unique expressions within the redevelopment project while differentiating from the group of business facilities surrounding it.

As the Sections 10 and 11 of the Sunhwa-dong redevelopment project were being designed in parallel, efforts were made to harmonize the two buildings and to interconnect the functions of their lower floors. The two buildings are designed to be perceived as a continuous architecture by the pedestrians, and an appropriate scale from the street is established. Considering the impact of this new architecture upon the context of the area, the scale, materials and colors of the whole building are moderated adapting to the flow from the upper floors to the lower parts.
