Samsung Display Research Building Located within the Giheung complex, a hub of South Korea’s advanced industries, the Samsung Display Research Building (SDR) serves as both the headquarters and R&D center of Samsung Display (SDC), bringing together previously dispersed teams and resources into a single, unified space. This project faced the challenge of carrying forward the legacy of architectural excellence cultivated over decades within the group’s research facilities while embracing ESG-driven sustainability to address climate change, all while embodying SDC’s identity as a global leader in display technology through architectural space design to foster a sense of pride among its employees. Stripping away decorative elements from the exterior and prioritizing simplicity and functionality
above all, the glass box of the tower transforms its overwhelming scale into a profound sense of awe through its pure form.
The massive podium supporting this pair of luminous glass monoliths serves as a unifying medium, integrating complex functions while promoting employee harmony and communication.
